The Kuala Lumpur Hunters took the TLC Qualifiers by storm by obtaining a 5-0 score in their group. I got the opportunity to get hold of Jason "JaeYoong" Yoong for a short interview on KLH and himself
Hi JaeYoong. First of all I want to congratulate you, 5-0-ing your group. How are you feeling, coming back to the professional League of Legends scene with a 5-0 record?
Thank you for congratulating me. I am feeling great despite having new teammates in a short time. I think we can work really well together and yeah, we did not plan to lose a game and I'm glad we managed to do it as planned
Yup, since we are talking about new members. KLH had a complete overhaul with so many new members (13Ghost, Ozora Veki, Stray and Qaspiel) Could you bring us through the process? Who was the one who picked the members?
I was fortunately given the chance by the team manager to hand pick the members. It took me awhile to finalize the roster as I wanted to make sure this is the roster I want to be competing for Season 4 and hopefully winning more tournaments. In short, basically it's me and my manager who did the members picking
So, what are the aspects that you looked into when you were picking the members? Mechanics, attitude, playstyle & etc?
Well, the most important part is the attitude. The others are fine as it can be shaped
I agree with that too. So how was training? Getting players from different teams (PaX and NtL), wouldn't there be a difference in style that needs big adaptations?
Well, I would say that all is going well fortunately. However, I can't tell too much as it's a secret! Haha
Haha, Alright, lets get off the KLH issue now. Team KTHXBAI, in group A also aced the group 5-0 and is often regarded as one of the better ones in the scene. What do you make of that?
They're no doubt one of the strongest teams in Malaysia; easily the top 3. But with the recent additions, I'm really not too sure if they are stronger or slightly weaker now. It's only until we actually meet them!
Yup, I guess we'll really have to wait and see. I'm excited too - as an ex-member of KtB. Well, you once posted on your FB Page after TLC Finals last year telling that it's going to be a whole new season and it's a "New Beginning". mind to share more about that? Is this the "new Beginning" you were talking about?
Yes, this IS the new beginning! I'm finally able to play in a team that I enjoy playing. Previously there's always tiny issues that's preventing me from fully enjoying playing in a team; and now I finally have the chance to, and this team have tons of potential. Thus, I'm really happy with it
Seems that things are going pretty well in your team. Good to see that your never give up spirit is finally coming into play now. So, what are the aims of the Kuala Lumpur Hunters for TLC.MY or even Season 4?
Thank you very much, I am glad myself too! This is actually the 'decider' year for me as I gave myself and my loved ones around me my word that if within two years since I first started (2012) that if I'm not going anywhere far, I would quit competitive gaming. With that beig said, this is the important year of mine so I'm giving all out! My aims for the team and myself would definitely be 1st place in TLC.MY and hopefully first place in the TLC Grand Finals. Of course, qualificatinos to Season 4 World Championship after that
I wish you all the best and since you were talking about your loved ones. How had your family/loved ones affected you in your pro-gaming career? Since it's Valentine's Day - Still Valentines day in NA/EU. Do you have anything you want to tell them?
Thank you to my family and my girlfriend for being extremely supportive of my choice to be a professional gamer and they've been very supportive along the way too! Well, I would thank my family for supporting me all these while. Of course, my girlfriend Joslyn. She's the best inspiration and motivation for me and yup, anything for her! Hahaha!
Haha, alright man! Lets wrap up this interview. Is there anything you want to tell your supporter/Malaysian League of Legends player to close this interview?
Thanks for believing me and never stopped supporting me! I wil not let you all down! Please look forward to me and my team's performance! And for those who has a dream, chase it and live it. Also, big thanks to Garena and Mervyn for this opportunity and for the awesome treatment! Finally, thanks to you for this interview
I guess this wraps it up Jason, thank you for your time!
